Access to the eGovernment Portal of Canton of Fribourg is changing

The eGovernment Portal is switching to the new electronic means of identification

Since the beginning of this week, the SwissID is being used as an electronic means of identification for the online services of the eGovernment Portal and FRIAC. The State Council would therefore like to offer the population the possibility, sooner or later, of using only one login for all public online services, regardless of whether they are cantonal or communal.

In order to make life easier for the population and businesses when using online services, the State Council issued a public invitation to tender, which was won by the company SwissSign. The introduction of electronic identification as part of the Fribourg 4.0 program, of the State Council, aims to provide everyone with a secure and free login for all online services. As of this month, the eGovernment Portal and the building permit management application FRIAC will benefit from this, as well as communal services such as eMove and the confirmation of residence, which are currently in the pilot phase. The changeover to SwissID also has the advantage of working with existing municipal solutions that already use this electronic means of identification.

Currently, over 91 000 people have an account in the virtual counter and in FRIAC. Users are invited to migrate the next time they log in to the virtual counter. They will then be invited to create a SwissID or connect an existing SwissID and then migrate their old account, if they have one, or create a new account directly. Their documents, messages and personal information stored in the Fribourg State virtual counter will remain unchanged and will be stored in a secure manner on the Fribourg State servers. Only their user account (login and password) is linked to the SwissID, a solution provided by a branch of the Swiss Post, which meets the high security requirements of Swiss data protection legislation.

The SwissID is also the means of identification that will be made available to users for the electronic patient record (EPR) in the canton of Fribourg. The people of Fribourg will thus have a single means of identification to access the online public services of both the State and the first pilot municipalities that will use the virtual counter: Bulle, Châtel-St-Denis, Estavayer, Fribourg, Kerzers, Riaz, Romont, Tafers and Wünnewil-Flamatt. This project, supported by the State of Fribourg, is an integral part of the DIGI-FR program launched by the State and the Federation of Fribourg Municipalities (FGV) to promote cooperation between the State and the municipalities.
